Welcome to the Nancy Vernon Memorial Page
Nancy Vernon passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017 after a yearlong battle with a Glioblastoma (brain cancer).
Nancy was born on March 8, 1948 to Matilda Teresa Rombach and Victor William Emmerich in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in a loving family including four sisters, Linda (Kahles), Kathie (Siebert), Judy (Kraus), and Vicky (Linneman).
Married to Ferol Vernon since 1970, together they have two beautiful daughters, Melissa (married to Russ Kohl) and Ann (married to Vinu Malik) and four amazing grandchildren, Jasmine, Indira, VJ, and Claire.
Nancy was a dedicated mother and loving grandmother. She inspired others to share in her love of art, pilates, cooking, gardening, and sewing. She was an especially talented and successful school counselor and volunteer, with a passion for teaching children of all backgrounds to read.
A message that she would like to leave each of us is, “you get to choose how you live your life every second of every single day.”
She will be buried in the Vernon family cemetery in Newport, Rhode Island, one that dates back to the 1700’s.

Research on the next cancer fighting treatments, that will directly impact Ann's future, are dependent on funding from campaigns like this.

Nancy was a passionate educator who loved working with children, especially when it came to literacy. Donations go directly to helping put books in the hands of the children who need them most.
3. Send Flowers
Nancy's family prefers that you donate to the causes above in lieu of sending flowers. If you do choose to send flowers, the family's chosen florist is Nancy’s Exotic Plants in Charleston, SC. Nancy is just down the street from us and a good friend. She will take your order and insure it arrives on time and in great shape.
